Hypnotherapy
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is the therapeutic use of hypnosis to create positive change by encouraging and enhancing the use of your own inner resources. It is a relaxed state of awareness where your conscious mind is quietened, allowing your unconscious mind to play a more active part. There are many myths about hypnosis which give a misleading impression. Hypnosis or trance is a natural state of mind that we all experience several times a day, passing through this state as we go to sleep each night and when we are just waking up, and also when we daydream and when we are deeply engrossed in something like a good book or a film. People usually find it a pleasant, relaxing and enjoyable experience.
It is our unconscious or subconscious mind that runs our automatic habits and behaviours. It runs our bodily processes, and all the automatic processes we do daily, such as walking, talking, reading, or driving a car. We don’t need to consciously think about how to put one foot in front of the other, or how to pronounce words before we say them, we do all that unconsciously. Once we have done the same things over and over they become second nature, and the process becomes an unconscious act.
The unconscious mind can also learn unhelpful habits, responses and behaviours, such as anxiety, fears, phobias, or unhelpful eating habits and much more. This is where hypnotherapy becomes extremely useful for helping us to create much more empowering ways of being.
Working with our unconscious mind to change unhelpful programming and creating much more successful images and positive emotions is the key to changing any unwanted habits and behaviours, and to reaching our potential.
